We offer a highly collaborative, international and dynamic working environment. We are based in the Cavendish Laboratory, which has produced 30 Nobel Prize winners. Our group is part of the world leading Optoelectronics Group in Cambridge, which has pioneered the science and technology of solution processable semiconductors.

Postdoctoral Postions

In addition to any posts listed below we always welcome applications for Postdoctoral positions from outstanding candidates with backgrounds in Physics or Chemistry, who maybe interested in applying for Postdoctoral Fellowships.

If you are interested in a position in the group email Akshay at “ar525 at cam.ac.uk”

PhD Positions

We are always on the look out for bright and enthusiastic students looking to explore problems at the frontier of light-matter interaction, nanoscale physics and physical chemistry. PhD students have the freedom to work in any of the groups areas of interest. Experimental work can range from ultrafast spectroscopy and microscopy, to the synthesis and design of new nanostructured materials and devices.

Funding for the PhD programme is highly competitive and as a general guide you will need solid research experience plus very high marks in your Masters degree. This roughly corresponds to a 1st from a top UK university, a CPI of at least 9/10 from a top Indian university, a GPA of 3.8/4 from a top US university, 90% or higher from a top Chinese university.

The deadline for funded positions for a start in October 2027 will be in the first week of December 2026. The deadline for the October 2026 start has now passed.

Get in touch with us ASAP if you are interested in our work and would like to explore the possibility of doing a PhD in the group.
